About visual rhetoric
حول البلاغة البصرية
How do the things we see shape our values, beliefs, and behaviors? Why do viewers come to different conclusions when looking at the same thing? Why do people assume that “seeing is believing” in the age of AI-generated images? On Visual Rhetoric answers these questions, helping readers and viewers think about how the visual intervenes in the world in both ordinary and extraordinary ways. By examining a wide range of images, customs, processes and contexts, Christa J. Olson and Brandi Easter argue for defining “visual” broadly to include not only visual objects, but also intangible images, visual technologies, and the perceptual-bodily act of seeing. On Visual Rhetoric offers a robust and flexible approach to the study of visual rhetoric, not only bringing together a wide range of case studies and existing concepts, but also raising new questions and concerns for researchers.
