Matthi Dugan (1920-2010) was a French sociologist and political scientist. He worked as Director of Research at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He taught for more than 22 years at a number of American universities, Europe and Japan. He chairs the Political Elites Research Committee of the International Political Science Association, and the Research Committee in Comparative Sociology of the International Sociological Association. He is also the founder of the Matti Doğan Foundation dedicated exclusively to the social sciences, a non-profit organization. Dogan played a major role in developing international comparative social science research. Robert Baehr is Associate Professor of Political Science and Associate Director for Academic Affairs at the European Center at the University of Illinois-Urbanin-Champaign. He currently teaches as a Fulbright Scholar at the Economic University of Vienna, Austria. His teaching focuses on international political economy, European Union politics, international relations, and Central European history and politics. He has published numerous books and articles on topics at the intersection of economics and politics. He holds a bachelor's degree in international relations from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. and a PhD in International Relations, Political Economy, and Comparative Politics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
