Tamer Al-Jundi poured his heart and soul into writing this book, through his own eyes (literally and figuratively). An ambitious achiever, Tamer earned a doctorate in public policy and design at the age of 32, but faced a daunting challenge three years later when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). It is a fatal disease that begins with a loss of sensation in the body, and often ends in death within three to five years. However, remarkably, Tamer exceeded all expectations and lived seven years after his diagnosis. As his ability to control his senses gradually deteriorated, until he had only very limited control over his eye movements with the help of eye-tracking technologies, Tamer wrote this book, leaving behind a profound testimony of his human journey. Throughout the pages of this work, Tamer invites readers to “stop” and “contemplate” the many blessings that God has bestowed upon them, and to “appreciate” them even in times of hardship. His message is about valuing the journey as much as the arrival, and embracing all emotions without denying them or allowing them to control us. It is a story about steadfastness and inner peace, about love and strength, an inspiring and motivating story without a doubt, that reconnects the reader with his basic values, and contributes to reshaping his outlook on life in a positive way on many levels.
