We are in urgent need of instilling national identity in the political conscience, nourishing and developing its psychological, emotional and cultural presence in children, and enabling them to cross the straits of their fathers’ identities, which continue to distract them with ideological identities borrowed from yesterday, or with sectarian and ethnic identities that do not care about national identity, whose repressed nodes have exploded over long decades, to serve the interests of groups and leaders struggling for power and wealth, or to achieve gains for other countries that see In the erosion of Iraq's identity and the conflict between its components, ensuring the fragility of the state and continued dependency. This does not mean denying the sub-identities in society. The multiplicity and diversity of identities is a rich source of wealth and creative societal vitality. I pointed out in several resources in this book that some identities and affiliations begin to be generated immediately after a person is born, such as his inheritance of his fathers’ religion, society, doctrine, language, and culture, and these identities grow and take root in the environment in which he grows up. In the modern state of citizenship, identity diversity is a source of strength, not weakness, but this requires an equation based on making national identity a comprehensive framework, from which national, religious, and sectarian identities branch, without overshadowing it. National identity is a broad political foundation that accommodates diversity and recognizes the citizen’s right to be different, so that society becomes an integrated system that turns diversity into a source of wealth and strength.
