The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies published the book Translation as Interpretation: Through Examples of the Qur’anic Text and Islamic Studies, written by Riyad Al-Miladi. The book falls within a research specialty that is rarely classified by Arab researchers, as it is a specialty that only flourishes in cultures that care about translation and give it great care. It is one of the first necessary building blocks for the path of translation sciences and terminology within the framework of thinking about translation theories in the global context, and in evaluating translation practice in the Arab context. The book attempts to fill a knowledge gap in current Arab studies, by analyzing the theoretical foundations of the most important current approaches to translation, and the translation product that began to witness some development in the Arab world a few decades ago. This calls for the necessity of reviewing and evaluating this product through precise academic foundations at the level of the term, the concept, and the relationship between them. The book not only presents contemporary theories in translation, but also looks at what has been achieved in the field of translation of religious texts. That is, with the Qur’anic text and related Islamic studies in Arabic, English, and French.
