كتابات عن الاستعمار

Translated

This edition brings together previously unpublished essays, studies and excerpts devoted to reflection on the colonial question by Simone Weil (1909-1943) from 1936 until the end of her life. As a leading voice of anti-colonialism, her thought went beyond the critique of colonial domination (which she situated within the diagnosis of a politics based on a central, imperial, and Eurocentric vision) to imagine the future of a world liberated from colonialism, and the role that Europe could play in a peaceful new world order. For Weil, justice is achieved in the hearts of those who seek it, and therefore, changing a present burdened by wars requires a common front of struggle and resistance, nourished by values that challenge the logic of hegemony, and call for the spread of a “madness” among peoples, which is the love of everything that strikes with force. The current landscape of a decolonized world, torn by new wars that reproduce old colonial logics, allows us to assess the scope of Weil's early analyses, as well as the validity of the critique of political theology that supports them.
