نداء بلال.. الإسلام في الشتات الأفريقي
نداء بلال.. الإسلام في الشتات الأفريقي
How do members of the African diaspora practice Islam? When you hear the term “black Muslim,” images of Malcolm Call of Bilal provides an in-depth account of the rich diversity of Islamic religious practices among African Muslims around the world. Covering North Africa, the Middle East, India and Pakistan, Europe, and the Americas, Edward E. Cortes IV engaged in a wide range of religious activities, from adherence to the Five Pillars of Islam and the establishment of transnational Sufi networks, to the veneration of African saints and political struggles for racial justice. By blending ethnographic fieldwork with historical perspectives, Curtis shows how African Muslims interpret not only their religious identities, but also their connection to the African diaspora. For some, the dispersion of Africans across time and space is seen as mere geographic dispersion, or perhaps as economic opportunity. For others, it was a metaphysical and spiritual exile of the soul from its sacred land and eternal home.
