The Triangle of Power: Rebalancing the New World Order
مثلث القوة: إعادة التوازن للنظام العالمي الجديد
The post-World War II liberal world order, which flourished so powerfully after the Cold War, is now disintegrating. Multilateral cooperation gives way to multipolar competition and conflict. Global standards are eroding. What happens next will define the rest of this century, so the search is on for a new global framework – a rebalancing of power. In his book “The Triangle of Powers,” Finnish President Alexander Stubb argues that we are living through a pivotal moment in history, similar to the events of 1918, 1945, and 1989. A new international order is taking shape, driven by three major forces: the Global West, the Global East, and the Global South. At the heart of this order is an escalating rivalry between the United States and China, as both pursue bilateral agreements and regional alliances, but it is the Global South that will ultimately determine whether the future turns toward cooperation or toward fragmentation. Drawing on decades of work on the front lines of diplomacy and blending personal vision with political and academic experience, Staub offers an impassioned call for values-based realism and generous foreign policy, warning that unless the West learns to listen, it will lose its place in the world it once built.
