Anatomy of borders: a political philosophical perspective

#### In the age of globalization, the dominance of the Internet and social media, borders are sometimes portrayed as relics of the past that should be turned away once and for all. * Other times, it emerges more majestic than ever before on Earth. These two perceptions coexist, even if they fluctuate in their intensity: at times their features seem outdated, and at other times they shine with unprecedented majesty. The spirit of the age has become contradictory, blowing in two completely opposite directions regarding regional borders, which are the subject of both praise and harsh criticism, an expression of two equivalent forms of paralysis. Juan Carlos Velasco Arroyo is Research Professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC, where he coordinates the FISOPOL (Social and Political Philosophy) group.
