الدفاع عن فلسطين في كندا.. التواريخ الحركات العمل
Why is it difficult to advocate for Palestine in Canada, and what can we learn from the movement's successes? This book examines Palestine solidarity activism in Canada, and answers these questions through a wide-ranging exploration of the movement's various actors, approaches, and areas of engagement, along with their connections to various national and transnational struggles against racism, imperialism, and colonialism. Led by a coalition of students, labor unions, church groups, left-wing activists, progressive newspapers, human rights organizations, academic associations, and Palestinian and Jewish community groups, Palestine solidarity activism is on the rise in Canada, and Canadians are more aware of the issues than ever before. Palestine solidarity activists are also subjected to an unprecedented siege. The movement defending Palestinian rights is forced to confront relentless political condemnation, a media blackout, administrative obstacles, coordinated smear campaigns, individual threats, legal intimidation, and institutional silencing. Through this book and the experiences of its contributing authors, many of whom are veterans of the movement, Defending Palestine in Canada offers an indispensable, and often straightforward, look at the complex social and historical forces at work in one of the world's most important debates. An urgent matter of our time, which could determine the course of what it means to be Canadian in the future.
