In October 2022, US President Joe Biden launched a new National Security Strategy, which warned that the world was at a “tipping point,” where “the post-Cold War era has definitively ended, and a major power competition to shape what comes next has begun.” The document declared that American leadership will be more necessary than ever to determine “the future of the international order” by mobilizing America’s unparalleled economic, military, and diplomatic resources to confront geopolitical rivals. Although it is too early to talk about the end of the liberal economic order, as well as the development of a multipolar international order, it is not too early to evaluate how these fundamental changes, even if they do not herald the end of globalization, can change its historical course, or indicate a new global architecture. Hence, assessing the potential weaknesses and resistances on the part of socialist movements and their historical demands for a democratic and equal world order.
