التدخل في أوروبا الوسطى
التدخل في أوروبا الوسطى

Britain and “the lands between them” 1919-1925 This work deals with the history of British policy towards Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Poland, which has been greatly overshadowed in the wake of the establishment of the Central European states at the end of World War I. Loykow makes a convincing case that distrust of the new political settlement, and the loss of credibility of traditional diplomatic channels, led to British influence in the region, exercised mainly in the form of commercial and financial ventures. Although this new policy was not always successful, it affected the development of diplomatic relations with these new countries. However, this British intervention did not result in any lasting diplomatic influence, and its absence was disastrous in the late 1930s, when the new international order was disintegrating under the weight of escalating violence.
