Doubles | a novel

“Doubles”_ takes place in 1968 in a rehabilitation facility for troubled juveniles, and is told from the perspective of a smart and bold 12-year-old girl, obsessed with mathematics. In an interesting and humorous style, this short novel explores how, in six months, a sensitive teenager transforms from a polite and quiet girl into a deviant girl. Although its events are set in the past, "Doubles" is very relevant to our reality today, in light of our recent increased awareness of the harsh reality that was prevalent in some of our residential institutions during that era (including those for indigenous children, but not limited to).
