David J. MacKinnon is a graduate of the Sorbonne University with distinction in history, a member of two legal societies, and has translated for the international criminal tribunals in Rwanda, The Hague, and Yugoslavia. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Legal Translators, and is the co-founder and director of the Long March to Rome, an Indigenous-led expedition that seeks to overturn the papal bulls of discovery. In his youth, he worked in oil fields, in toilet factories, in ports, and in a morgue. He followed the ancient pilgrims' trail to Santiago de Compostela, and visited Chartres Cathedral several times. His previous books include: “The Leper Tango,” “The Sea Serpent,” “Voluntary Crucifixion,” and a critically acclaimed translation of radio interviews with the itinerant French poet Blaise Sander in the book “Blaise Sander Speaks.”
