لقد ولّى زمن الشرق الأوسط أهلاً بكم في غرب آسيا
At the end of the twentieth century, the United States established a new order in the Middle East based on political realism and the balance of power. Three decades later, this system collapsed. The disastrous US invasion of Iraq, coupled with the failure of the Arab Spring, created a vacuum that allowed revisionist powers to expand their influence in the region. In his book "West Asia", Muhammad Suleiman believes that the time has come for the United States to distance itself from nation-building and return to order-building. This requires expanding the vision, both geographically and historically, to build a new regional order in “West Asia” – from the Middle East to South Asia, linking Europe to the Indo-Pacific region via the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. Working with India, Italy, Greece, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and others, Suleiman shows how the United States can establish a new balance of power in the Eurasian supercontinent to counter China and Russia's efforts to disrupt the status quo and create a rival order. This new strategy is based on three multi-layered alliances – geostrategic, power, and geotechnological – that together can establish a stable order extending from the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean. But this requires a radical shift in American grand strategy, with “West Asia” at its core. The time of the Middle East is over. Welcome to West Asia.
