At the end of the twentieth century, the United States established a new order in the Middle East based on political realism and the balance of power. Three decades later, this system collapsed. The disastrous US invasion of Iraq, coupled with the failure of the Arab Spring, created a vacuum that allowed revisionist powers to expand their influence in the region. In his book "West Asia", Muhammad Suleiman believes that the time has come for the United States to distance itself from nation-building and return to order-building.
