Digital Theory (In Search of Media) reframes our understanding of the digital domain by offering a powerful theoretical approach that goes beyond the narrow concept associated with consumer electronic devices, as author M. Beatrice Vazzi and her colleagues argue that digital should be understood as a form of mediation that is essentially based on discrete units. The intellectual body of this work is based on an in-depth exploration of the relationship of the digital to thinking, symbols, and difference, as Beatrice Vazzi begins the presentation by presenting three central theses that address the existential and cognitive scope of digital theory, which establishes a philosophical basis for the work. On the other hand, Alexander Galloway seeks to establish a precise definition of the necessary conditions that govern any symbolic system of a digital nature, by defining a series of ten simple mathematical models that illustrate the structural structure of this system. At the conclusion of this intellectual presentation, Matthew Handelman and Leif Weatherby provide a description of digital theory from the perspective of the dialectical relationship that exists between quality and quantity, which gives the book a comprehensive vision. These scientific contributions combine to provide controversial and fruitful research on the broad theoretical potential that the digital has in our contemporary world, which made the book receive high critical appreciation among specialists.
