المقاربة الواقعية لعلاقات العالم العربي الدولية - الوعود والحدود
It seeks to provide critical theoretical and conceptual approaches to the basic concepts that shaped the theses of the realist school in the field of international relations and its main hypotheses. At the same time, it also seeks to review the promises of the realist school and its limits in interpreting international politics in the Arab world, whether it concerns cases of Arab-Arab relations or the relations of the Arab world with major powers and regional powers. A group of researchers and experts in international relations contribute to this book, making it a book about and from the Arab region. The realist school in international relations is rooted in the history of political thought. It is the product of a long historical and philosophical tradition, although its empirical application in interpreting international politics dates back to the twentieth century. Realism has become a dominant theoretical tradition in the field of international relations. As soon as the world faces a major crisis in the international system, or the outbreak of an international war, its supporters begin to explain based on assumptions that make the state the center of analysis and power (especially military) a major variable in causal relationships that are claimed to be generalizable across disparate historical and geographical contexts. Therefore, this book comes in the context of the debate regarding the extent to which realism can explain the crises of the Arab region and its international relations, but not from the perspective of the Western literature that crystallized and developed this school, but rather from the perspective of academic experiences from the Arab region itself.
