Artificial intelligence and virtual tourism | At the turn of the century, the pace of changes that had been stagnant for a long time in the fields of technology and digital technology accelerated. Artificial intelligence, combined with augmented reality, has fundamentally transformed the way we perceive the world. At the same time, these technological breakthroughs are creating unprecedented innovations in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Policymakers and experts have widely discussed the necessity of regulating the entry of new technologies into the tourism sector. Technology may be part of the solution or part of the problem. While some studies have warned that digital platforms may have negative impacts on tourist destinations, others have focused enthusiastically on the efficiency of technology in solving problems such as pollution, breaches of personal consumer data, excessive mass tourism, and others. The question remains, and of course, this book is not only limited to this interesting aspect, but also addresses other related issues such as virtual tourism, homestay, smart tourism, technology, the environmental crisis, as well as the introduction of robots in hotels. The invited authors, who are specialists in this field, make a common argument that technology can be beneficial for tourism if properly regulated by experts.
