One Man's Freedom

لا سمع ولا طاعة

“There is no writing without freedom. This is the lesson of the journey over 45 years of work within various journalistic institutions. Freedom is a condition for writing, and a condition for survival and continuing to work.. The journalistic institutions with which I am associated with a free relationship. There is no room for threatening my freedom or putting pressure on it. There are no conditions, pressure, or harassment. Completely free association. I can leave it at any moment as I wish. Some of my journalistic biography, or some of my writing biography... a long and arduous journey, some of it narrow and suffocating, surrounded by pressure, eyes, and censors, and some of it flying in a spacious judiciary with no conditions surrounding it or Saddam. A journey of push and pull, of fatigue and pleasure, of glowing and extinguishing. A journey is the space that I occupied or occupied me between the newspaper papers and the corridors of the press. I was always myself, not like anyone else, and no one resembles me. It is my voice and it is my image and my features without pretensions, without calculations and interests, without guardianship, and without fear. A journey closer to the fluttering of a bird between the sky and the sea, flying over open seas that only the most sturdy bird, “the seagull,” can handle. Freedom is not just about flying away... fluttering wherever we want... but it is the path of the journey... How many times have the wings melted and the bird collapsed, and how many times has it resumed flight? When I look back...I feel so much satisfaction at how free I was...”
