Biopolitics from Below

For Bo and her siblings, the secret fight club may finally offer a way out of life with an abusive uncle – but only if she can win. Never again. That's what seventeen-year-old Beau Clark has promised her two younger brothers ever since they were placed in separate foster families - a situation that nearly claimed her little brother's life, and they've vowed never to repeat it. Bo will do anything to keep that promise, even if it means enduring the abuse of her Uncle Jack, their new guardian. When Jack discovers Bo's talent for boxing, he enrolls her in a secret boxing club tournament, which may earn her enough money to move in with her two brothers once she turns eighteen. But the wrestling ring is a cruel place, and when Beau's wound healer is arrested, Jack is forced to bring a new healer onto the team. Liam turns out to be a classmate of Bo's, and as they grow closer, Bo worries that he will report him to the authorities if he learns that Jack is hurting her. As Bo works her way toward the big prize, Jack begins to set his sights on goals beyond the championship, and in a dramatic finale, the violence spills over into the ring, putting everything Bo loves about in jeopardy.
