ربع قرن من الحرب: سعي الولايات المتحدة للهيمنة العالمية 1990 – 2016
The “1619 Project,” launched by The New York Times in August 2019, mobilized enormous editorial and financial resources to depict racial conflict as a major driver of American history. The project downplayed the democratic dimension of the American Revolution and the Civil War, and completely ignored the struggles for labor and civil rights in the twentieth century. The book includes interviews with eight prominent historians of American history, including Gordon Wood, James M. McPherson, Victoria Bynum, James Oakes, Richard Carwardine, Adolph Reed Jr., Dolores Janewski, and Claiborne Carson. Through lectures and essays, the book responds to the profound intellectual, social, and cultural crisis of capitalist society, manifested in the racial theorization of the 1619 Project by The New York Times, by fighting for the objective truth on which working-class unity is based. The concluding chapter examines the reactionary foundations of Trump's “1776” project.
