Dar Athar for Publishing and Distribution, an independent Saudi cultural institution founded in Dammam in 2010, by Abdullah Al-Ghubain, succeeded in establishing its presence as one of the most prominent names in the Arab and Gulf cultural scene in particular in a short period of time. The house is considered one of the first Saudi publishing houses to emerge in publishing world and Arabic literature. The house undertakes the task of building a modern Arabic library, characterized by geographical, linguistic and aesthetic diversity, and rehabilitating the book as a high and influential cultural product. With more than 500 publications in the fields of literature, thought, translation, and criticism, “Athar” was able to reserve a leadership position for itself among Gulf and Arab publishing houses. The house is distinguished by its ability to discover new voices in writing, in addition to its interest in translating the works of international writers and thinkers, who have formed landmarks in human culture. The house’s publications receive wide critical and media attention, and its publications participated in major Arab and international book fairs. It also represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the first activities of the Saudi pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, through a discussion session on the reality of Saudi publishing and books. Through a wide distribution network and strategic partnerships with reading platforms and major stores, our publications reach Arab readers in various parts of the world, whether through international exhibitions or paper and digital stores.
