صيدنايا.. من مدونة سجون الأسد
Kayali submitted the book “Saydnaya...from Assad’s Prison Blog,” which contains the testimonies of 16 victims of the most famous prison. He says: “The Syrian prison is different from any prison in the world, as the Assad regime’s prisons do not only deprive a person of his freedom, his legal rights, his individual privacy, his dignity and his humanity, but rather it is a prison in which the detainee loses himself, his soul, and even his feelings.” The writer forgot that the matter is not limited to Assad’s prisons, but rather is characteristic of all Arab country’s prisons. The system is the same, even if the methods differ. In his introduction, Kayali mentions a strange reason for the absence of a man in prison for 22 years, who was in the orbit of several prisons, including Sednaya. The reason is only because he defeated Bassel al-Assad, so the latter sent him to prison, just like that! Kayali mentions his trip to Saydnaya after Bashar al-Assad's escape, describing the road, the building, the streets, and the basements, remembering the victims and their relatives whose stories were repeated. The irony is that the prison is located on the way to two tourist towns! It also differentiates between official and unofficial prisons, which are represented in the basements of the intelligence services, spread throughout the country. He cites as an example that the Tadmur prison camp is similar to the Nazi concentration camps, which were not designed to detain and neutralize opponents, but were established to exterminate national and religious groups.
