الثورة العربية .. السجل المفقود من حرب لورنس العرب الاستخباراتية

Translated

The first English translation of this revolutionary text, published in 1916, is the fruit of an unexpected collaboration between Arab intellectuals and British intelligence during wartime. In December 1916, a modest book was published in Arabic by Cairo Press, a book capable of refuting everything we thought we knew about British intelligence and Arab nationalism. The book The Arab Revolt, Britain's longest-running propaganda work from the First World War, remained hidden from view for more than a century. This first English translation reveals an extraordinary collaboration between Arab intellectuals and British military intelligence, which revolutionized information operations during the war. This early work on Arab nationalism, commissioned by the legendary Arab Bureau and written by Lebanese journalist Asaad Daghir, deftly weaves together history, political analysis, and passionate calls for independence from Ottoman rule. Although its publication served British strategic interests, the “Arab Revolution” was more than just propaganda, as it allowed authentic Arab voices to address the Arab public. Between its dedication to the “martyrs” executed by the Ottoman authorities and its comprehensive vision of Arab greatness, this wonderful text shaped the narrative of the Arab Revolution. This new book is a valuable addition to Geron's The Arab Bureau, which offers a fresh look at Lawrence of Arabia's intelligence unit in light of The Arab Revolt, bringing a momentous historical document to English-speaking readers for the first time.
