شيء مفقود من هذا العالم
شيء مفقود من هذا العالم
Ten years have passed since 2014 and the 74th genocide of the Yazidis, a people facing ongoing persecution, displacement and ethnic cleansing from their original lands in the Kurdish regions. In the wake of this genocidal violence, new poetic voices have emerged in universities and displacement camps along the borders of Syria, Iraq, and Turkey, as well as from across the Yazidi diaspora. As the forces of globalization exacerbate the erasure of their culture and traditions, the Yazidi poets in this multilingual anthology steadfastly defend their land, and their art is a testament to Yazidi resistance and presence. These poetic selections are an extension of the poetic heritage of the Yazidis, which has historically preserved and documented aspects of their traditions, their displacement, and their erasure from history. It is in itself a testimony to the genocide that occurred in 2014, to be documented for future generations. The poets in this anthology, translated from Arabic and Kurmanji, affirm that they will not allow the Yazidi voices to be lost from this world.
