المتفرج والوسيط.. قراءات في جينالوجيا السلطة والناس
The book formulates a radical critical review of the tense and crisis relationship between the ruler and the ruled in the Arab world, and the idea of the hero dominates the collective consciousness in more than one text that illuminates many points, including the belief in a superhero who performs miracles by exaggerating one of his actions and portraying it in a dramatic manner, in an absence of his overall biography that ended in failures and defeats, or a denial of figures who achieved more important achievements but were neglected in the Arab historical blog because their biography lacked the required drama and suspense. Here, Al-Mahariq points out the decline in the image of this hero since the rise of a group of officers to the forefront of power in Egypt after the middle of the last century, followed by many Arab countries that replicated the same experience with minor modifications, so that Arab leaders ended up representing the model of the inspiring hero, and they are all personalities below average in their competence and ability to manage, reminiscent of the theorizing of the Canadian philosopher Alain Donough in his book “The System of Banality.” The defect became clear after the Arab Spring, as the revolutions remained leaderless, as the "average-tier" alliances early killed any attempts to lead the crowds in the angry squares.
