يا أوروبا، إلى أين أنتِ ذاهبة؟
What is the future of Europe? This question has never been more urgent than it is today. هل نسي دعاة الحرب الذين يعتقدون أن الأسلحة قادرة على حل المشاكل أن الحربين العالميتين في القرن العشرين قد دمرتا قارتنا تدميرًا كاملًا؟ This unique narrative suggests a possible path to peace. The author invites us on a journey through time. We start at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, where the paintings speak at night, and pass through a terrible catastrophe at the end of the twenty-first century, to reach Amsterdam in the seventeenth century, to the home of Rembrandt. We witness the creation of his masterpieces, the joys and sorrows of his life, and even that decisive moment when the painter meets and understands a spiritual undercurrent that links the wisdom of the East with European science. In the midst of the Thirty Years' War, an innovative humanism is actually taking shape that might lead Europe towards peace and lasting brotherhood. Can the beautiful Phoenician princess who was kidnapped on the back of a bull help us understand that we are one big human family?
