It shows how, more often than not, there is a gradual erosion of human rights and democracy, through weak institutions, the legitimization of exceptional powers, and a decline in public confidence, rather than a sudden collapse. The author also warns against rights inflation, whereby too many demands weaken their moral force and reduce public support. In this context, the victory of values ​​becomes fragile not because of their weak moral appeal, but because of the risk of them losing practical credibility.
