The Center for Arab Unity Studies issued the second edition of the book **Lieutenant General Saad al-Din al-Shazly: Testimonies And documents** By the author Osama Al-Rashidi. Lieutenant General Saad El-Din El-Shazly, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces during the October 1973 War, is considered one of the most prominent Arab military leaders in modern history. His life, which extended for about 90 years, witnessed many events that intersected with the history of the Arab region in the twentieth century. This book includes personal and professional testimonies about Al-Shazly, covering the stages of his military and political career, starting with his participation in Egypt’s major wars over the course of 25 years, and his innovative ideas that he presented to the armed forces during the planning stage for the October War, as well as his diplomatic work as Egypt’s ambassador in London and Lisbon, then declaring his opposition to the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s signing of the “peace” agreement with Israel, his political asylum in Algeria for 14 years, and the establishment of the “Egyptian National Front” to oppose The system in Egypt. The book also addresses the details of the case in which Al-Shazly was accused of divulging military secrets, and under which he was sentenced to three years in prison, in addition to the details and dimensions of the deliberate blackout he was subjected to from the time he left prison until the end of his life, and its connection to the nature of his relationship with the late President Hosni Mubarak. The book includes eight chapters divided into three sections, in addition to the introduction, pictures, and index.
