The horrific images of a neo-Nazi march in Charlottesville, Virginia, in the summer of 2017 are still vivid, as are images of passionate anti-fascist demonstrators who risked their lives for what is right. In this poignant picture book by Gord Hill, author of 500 Years of Resistance Illustrated, he explores the history of fascism over the past 100 years and the anti-fascist movements that worked hard to bring it down. Fascism is a relatively recent political ideology, however, in its short history, it has seen some of the most horrific atrocities against humanity in its name. Its malicious roots have penetrated all parts of the world, starting with Italy after World War I, through Nazi Germany, Spain during the Franco era, and the Ku Klux Klan in America. Today, thanks to the encouragement of the US President, fascism has resurfaced with force.
