David Olusoga is a BAFTA Award-winning British-Nigerian historian, writer, presenter and film director. He is Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester, is the author of several books, and writes feature articles and analyzes for prestigious newspapers and magazines such as The Observer, The Guardian, The New Statesman, The Voice and BBC History magazine. He presents the BBC's popular historical series "A House Through Time", and also wrote and presented the award-winning series "Britain's Forgotten Slave Owners". His book Black and British was longlisted for the Orwell Prize, shortlisted for the inaugural Galack Prize, and won the Ben Hessel-Tiltman Prize. A children's edition, Black and British: A Brief and Essential History, was published in 2020 and won Book of the Year in the Children's Non-Fiction category at the British Book Awards 2021. In 2019, he was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in recognition of his services to history and community inclusion. David has also received a BAFTA Special Award, the British Academy Presidents' Medal and the Norton Medlicott Medal for services to history.
