ما هو علم اللاهوت السياسي؟
Political theology is widely discussed, but its understanding remains limited. It has become a popular term in various fields of the humanities and critical social sciences, and even in general debates about current events. However, there is no consensus about its definition. This paradigm-shifting interdisciplinary book brings together three of the most prominent voices in political theology—a Christian theologian, a critical theorist, and an anthropologist—to offer new approaches to understanding the relationship between religion and politics. The authors explore similarities and differences in their approaches, guiding readers through studies in their fields, while at the same time presenting a shared vision that addresses core justice issues in the contemporary world. The authors reject the idea that political theology is a closed field with a fixed point of reference, and show that it is an open and lively dialogue that welcomes new participants. They also show how voices and approaches from postcolonial theory, Black studies, feminist and queer theory, new materialisms, and ethnography, in both the Global North and South, are contributing to transforming the field. This book addresses concerns about the relationship of political theology to authoritarian and anti-democratic movements, showing that engaged political theology sheds critical light on sensitive topics such as populism, racism, and ethno-religious nationalism. The book “What is Political Theology?” Globally contemporary, it is both easy to understand for students and innovative for researchers.
