International politics is often conducted in two or more languages, and because each language is different, what can be said in one language may be impossible to say in another. Translation is the essence of global politics, and relationships between languages ​​transcend boundaries of time, place, culture and country. Interlanguage Relations draws on the emerging literature on translation in international relations to propose a unique research agenda for scholars of world politics, offering multiple directions and sets of principles for sustained study. The contributors use diverse methodologies to explore these interactions and encounters in different locations, bringing together multiple subfields, approaches and disciplinary models across the history of international relations. Together they offer a more comprehensive global perspective on international affairs, moving beyond the dominance of the English language to show the interconnectedness between “high” politics and everyday life.
