Algorithmic Capital: Resistance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
رأس المال الخوارزمي: المقاومة في عصر الذكاء الاصطناعي
A rich and bold account of the mutual transformations between capitalism and technology in the age of artificial intelligence This book offers a critical theory of the new phase of algorithmic capitalism, and charts paths of critique and resistance. Artificial intelligence and algorithms are not just technologies, but are rooted in new capitalist forms and processes that go beyond economics and technology. As a result, they radically reshape social reality, politics, culture, and subjectivities. The book consists of twenty theses, covering topics ranging from geopolitics, rare earth mining, labour, cryptocurrencies, influencers, climate change, new generation artificial intelligence, social acceleration, Silicon Valley ideologies, and predictive policing, placing contemporary social change in the context of the emergence of algorithmic capital. In doing so, the authors show how the valorization of data and the development of artificial intelligence are symptoms of deeper social, economic, and political transformations. Algorithmic capital is at once a logic of accumulation, a form of social power, a mediation of social relations, and a relationship with nature, as well as a multidimensional reality that radically reshapes social life. Confronting this new phase of capitalism, the book explores paths toward organization and resistance, tracing ways of struggling in and out of algorithmic capitalism toward a post-capitalist and just world.
